The old must give way to the young/new. That is how mama nature put it; it can not be negotiated.

“That is what nature and the dialectical logic of thoughts are supposed to show you, have you missed on Hegel” whispers drake, the old male duck, being treated and taken care of by its duckling.

“Those who challenge this truth,” says, Drake, the old duck, ” leave this world without the chance of being served a notice.” The retiring drake brings the example of some infamous old ducks who ignored this longstanding postulate. “They were overthrown violently and left their rafts unprepared. “They left their teams in tatters, and the NEW rulers destroyed the teams those old-and- belligerent ducks had built through the years,” Quacks the old and wise drake, enjoying the sunset. “Gadaffi…Saddam… Mengistu, Abdallah Saleh….” mumbles with a stern warning on his face.

“Putting the house in order and retiring is a blessing,” advises the old drake before preparing what seems to be his last dinner. He observes his teaming family and rewinds his legacy.

Satisfied with what he has accomplished in his short life, he appears to be content and reassured. An air of confidence and peace fills the moment. “The old must give way to the new before things explode,” he repeats to the young members of his raft,” concluding his last advice with that familiar smile. No teeth, though.

“ኣረጊት ወለዶን ኣረጊት ኣተሓሳስባን ንሓድሽ ወለዶን ንሓድሽ ኣተሓሳስባን ቦታ ክገድፍ ኣለዎ” በለ ኣቦና ደርሆ-ማይ

“ ኣብ ኣከባቢኹም ዘሎ መስርሓት ባህርን ናይ ኣተሓሳስባ ስነ-ሞገትን ነዚ ሓቂ እዚ ክምህሩኹም ነይርዎም። ምናልባት ደኣ ናይ ሄገል ‘ነገራውን ታሪኻውን ስነ-ሞገት’ ዝብል ኣስተምህሮ ብድቃስኩም ሓሊፉክም ከይኸውን እምበር፡ እቲ ሰብኣይ ብዛዕባ እዚ ሓቂ ብዙሕ ኢሉ እዩ” በለ ኣቦይ ደርሆ-ማይ ብሕሹኽታ፡ ነቶም ኣኽቢቦሞን ዝከናኸንዎን ዝነበሩ ነኣሽቱ ኣባላት ስድርኡ። እቶም ዝተከእዎ ነኣሽቱ ኣባላት ስድራ-ቤት ግርም ገይሮም እዮም ዝከናኸውንዎ ዝነበሩ።

“እቶም ነዚ ሓቂ ክጎስዩ ወይ ክብድሁ ዝደልዩ፡ ነዛ ዓለም ብሃንደበት እዮም ዝገድፍዋ” በለ እቲ ዘመን ጥሮትኡ ብሰላም ዘሕልፍ ዘሎ ኣቦይ ደርሆ-ማይ፡ ኣብነታት ናይ ገለ ነዚ ንመዋእላት ክዉን ኮይኑ ዝጸንሐ ሓቂ ዕሽሽ ዝበሉ እሞ ንንኡስ ወለዶ ቦታ ከይለቑ ወሲኖም ኣብ ስልጣኖም ነኺሶም ዝተጓዓዙን ብኽፉእ ነዛ ዓለም ዝተፋነውዋ ደርሆ-ማያት ከምጽእ ኣየጸግሞን እዩ።

“ ብዓመጽ እዮም ተገሊፎም። ነቶም ስድራታቶም ብንቡር ከየዳለዉን ከይተፋነዉዎምን እዮም ከይዶም” ይብል እዚ ንዛረበሉ ዘለና ኣቦይ ደርሆ-ማይ። “እቶም ብነድርን ሕርቓንን ስልጣን ዝሓዙ ሓደሽቲ መራሕቲ ድማ ነቶም እቶም ዝተገለፉ መራሕቲ ደርሆ-ማይ ዝሃነጽዎም ስድራታት ግምጥልጥል ኣቢሎሞምን ኣዕንዮሞምን እዮም። በቓ ሕምትል ኣቢሎሞም፡ ተመናዚዖምሎም” ይብል፡ ብጽባቐ ናይ’ታ ብምዕራባዊ ደረት-ትርኢት ናይ’ቲ ዝነብረሉ ዝነበረ ቀላይ ትዕዘር ዝነበረ ጸሓይ-ዓራርቦ እንዳ ተመሰጠ። “መዓመር ቐዛፊ—ሳዳም ሑሴን—መንግስቱ ሃይለማርያም—ዓብደላ ሳልሕ—” ይደጋግምን የጒረምርምን። ነቶም ነኣሽቱ ኣባላት እታ ስድራ ድማ ርኡይ መጠንቀቕታ ዘመሓላልፍ ዘሎ ይመስል። ኣብ ገጹ እዩ ዝንበብ።

“ ንገዛኻን ስድራኻን ወጋጊንካ ናብ ጥሮታ ምምራሕ ምርቓ እዩ” ይብል፡ ነታ ናይ መወዳእትኡ እትመስል ድራሩ ክቐራረብ እንከሎ። ነቶም ብውህደት ሓርኮትኮት ዝብሉ ደቁን ደቂ-ደቁን ርእዩን ንታሪኽ ናይ ሓድጉ ዳግም መርሚሩን ብፍሰሃ ዝተጎብአ እዩ ዝመስል። ኣብታ ሓጻር ሂወቱ ዘመዝገቦ ዓወታት ገምጊሙ፡ ናይ ዕግበትን ናይ ምትእምማንን ስምዒት ዓሲልዎ ከምዝነበረ ክሕባእ ዘይከኣል ምልክታት የርኢ ነበረ።

“ነገራት ከይተተኮሱ እንከለዉ፡ እቲ ኣረጊት ነቲ ንኡስ ቦታ ክገድፍ ኣለዎ” ብምባል ነቶም ንኣሽቱ ኣባላት ስድርኡ ናይ መጠረሽታ ዝመስል ለበዋን መጠቀቕታን ሃቦም። ፍሽኽ እውን ኢሉ እዩ፡ ኣስናን ደኣ ኣይነበሮን እምበር።
